Indians trying to escape the Taliban occupation of Afghanistan face several challenges, from lack of contact with embassy staff and sealed airports to difficulty obtaining Covid test reports from the Indian government for the flights themselves as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday that the center will “ensure the safety of Indians in Afghanistan”.

According to a NOTAM (notice to pilots) issued Monday by authorities at Kabul airport, Afghan airspace has been opened to the military and all transit aircraft will “get out of control”. Another NOTAM states that the civil side of Kabul Airport is closed until further notice.
